Our program prepares you as a generalist practitioner who will function as a competent, ethical social worker in a variety of settings, with clients who are experiencing a wide range of problems. You will also be prepared for graduate study in Social Work. As a graduate of our program, you will have an enhanced understanding of the world, a capacity for critical thought, and a triad of knowledge, values, and skills that forms the base for social work practice.

history of program at TCU

The Department of Social Work at TCU began as a part of the Department of Sociology in 1975 supported by Title XX of the Social Security Act. In 1978, the program achieved full accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CWSE). The program was reaccredited in 1983, 1991, 1999, and 2007.
